How to Get Your Blog Indexed in Less Than 6 Hours

Sometimes, getting a new blog indexed in a search engine can become a troubling issue amongst bloggers especially the newbie bloggers who are just getting a hang of this SEO thingy.

 I have read Facebook updates with various lamentations of some bloggers about how Google and other search engines refused to index their blog even though they are publishing new contents.

The truth be told, publishing contents is not enough to get those web spiders crawling through your blog, you have to entice them to your blog and give them a reason to stick around.

Trick 1 – Add your Site to Qirina.com

Qirina.com is a website analysis tool which I have discovered to be in great relationship with Google when it comes to crawling. I have discovered that qirina gets crawled fast and frequently by Google and one of the easiest ways to get your new blog noticed is to get your blog URL on a site that Google loves to crawl.

When you get to qirina.com, you have the opportunity to search for your domain using the search box on the site, but believe me, nothing will come up using the search box since your blog is new and qirina has not yet crawled your site.

So what you have to do is to add your site to their index, to do this, scroll down to the footer area of the website and you will find the link that reads “Add a Site” follow this link and enter your new blog URL in the site addition box and click “submit”; then wait for the analysis of your site to be completed.

The qirina website analysis tool is quite comprehensive and you can learn one or two things about your site SEO by using their tool. So it is not just about the link back or indexing, you also get to have a quick SEO analysis of your website.

Trick 2 – Woorank.com

Woorank.com is also another Google addicted website; Google loves this SEO analysis website so much!

Woorank is a web based software that generate instant reviews of websites. Woorank is similar to qirina, but Woorank gives more detailed analysis of websites covering every major aspect of web development and SEO. Getting your new blog indexed through Woorank is quite easy, all you need to do is to go to their homepage and enter your new blog URL; this will take you to a new page where you will wait till your website analysis is done.

Once your website analysis is done, I will advice you to go through their analysis to see if there are some things you might change on your blog based on their recommendation. If there is none, you may close the page and naviate away.

Trick 3 – IMTalk Website Submitter

Website directories may seem old school to you, but believe me, they work for me when it comes to creating a buzz around a new website. I know some folks like doing manual website directory submission, I used to do this too in the past (5 years ago), but since I stumbled upon this cool FREE website submitter available at IMtalk forum, I just automate it.

The IMtalk website submitter tool lets you submit your blog link to over 2500 website directories and WHOIS databases. This website submitter is quite effective and Google friendly (don’t worry about G kicks). So whenever I want to get a new blog indexed, I head over to this tool, add my link and sit back as it does its job.

Trick 4 – Google+ Plus share

Google+? Yea! Google Plus.

FYI, Google owns Google plus and whether you believe it or not, Google plus is beginning to affect search engine result pages (SERPs) behaviors.

I have discovered that a cool way to draw Google’s attention to your new blog is to invite them indirectly via Google plus. Inviting the Google bots to your site via Google Plus is quite easy, all it takes is to share a link to one or two of your new blog’s post on Google plus and sit back for the magic to happen.

If possible, ask one or two of your friends to give you a +1 and reshare the post too and before you know it, Google with know that something is happening over at your new blog.

P.S. – The tricks that I will be mentioning below other than the 4 ones I mentioned above are my last resort to getting my new blogs indexed. I will advice you too to keep these 2 last tricks as your last resort. Don’t ask me why!

Trick 5 – Submit your URL to Google

Some bloggers don’t know that Google is quite nice to us webmasters. Nice? Yea! Nice!

If you don’t know, Google has always provided us with a tool that we can use to submit our URL to their index; this website submission tool has been available since I could remember. They provided this tool so that you can submit your website for indexing incase the Google spiders don’t just want to visit your blog.

You can access this tool by visiting - www.Google.com/addurl , when you get to this page, all you need to do is to add your blog URL and submit it for indexing, and then hope that the spiders visit you soon

Trick 6 – Sitemap Submission

Sitemap submission is the big boss of all other methods listed in this post! Submitting your sitemap to Google is very very important even if your site gets indexed by using the other methods that I shared above.

The other methods above will get just a few of your blog pages indexed, but submitting your sitemap to Google via the webmaster tools will get a bulk of your blog pages indexed quickly.

Before you can submit your blog sitemap to Google, you will need to verify your blog ownership via the Google webmaster tools and believe me; this is quite easy to do. I already wrote a comprehensive post on how to submit your blog sitemap to Google; I will recommend you read this tutorial for detailed instructions on how to use this trick. Conclusion

Getting a new blog indexed in Google can be achieved in 6 hours or less if you follow the strategies that I have outlined in this post, I have used these methods and I still use them and they work well for me.

Sure, the basics still remain the same - you just want more folks to buy more stuff.

But while the trend for eCommerce growth is positive, it’s become a really crowded landscape. Where you were once up against a handful of competitors you’re now facing some seriously big guns like Amazon.

So how do you stand out?

You’ve tried pay per click but you just haven’t got $100K a month to spend on it (like your competitors).

Social Media - yeah right - like you’ve really got 5 hours a day to spend on that. These companies have got teams of people running their accounts for them.

But don’t despair! There is a way that even small independent online retailers can start to take on the big guys.

It’s called eCommerce Content Marketing and it’s a step by step, predictable process that anyone can master. It’s the central point where SEO, Blogging, Link Building, Social Media and even Pay per Click all meet.

It’s perfect for you because you know your product inside out, you speak the language of your customers and because it’s all about sharing your passion and knowledge of your products.

It’s about positioning you as an authority and reaching out to influencers who can help with the heavy lifting of getting the right people over to your website.

But it isn’t just about getting traffic. It’s about conversion too. Ask yourself this: What’s better 10,000 uninterested browsers or 1,000 motivated buyers? I know which I’d rather have. Sure, traffic is nice, but conversions are nicer.

Why Content Marketing For eCommerce?

Since 2012 when Google went nuclear on spammy websites and underhand link building practices the focus has shifted towards a more editorial, authority-based approach to content.

Take a look at some leading eCommerce websites - they don’t even look like eCommerce websites as we know (or knew) them. They look more like a magazine with a shop attached.

And why is that happening? Two reasons.

Firstly the big brands know that consumers are far savvier these days. They want to engage more with a brand if they are going to buy from them.

But also because in this post Panda/Penguin world, Google is calling the shots and if you want to send the right signals to Google you’ll need to learn rather pronto how to get good quality links from good quality sites.

And let’s face it, building links to product pages was always a difficult task and always will be. But linking to great content - that’s a much easier challenge.

But creating great content isn’t just about getting links. Great content works for improved conversion rates too. And the chances are that you already have most of the content you need. It’s either on your hard drive, in your outbox somewhere or up in your head.

The trick is to get it from ‘up there’ to ‘out there’.

And here’s how…

Let’s Start at the Beginning - The Client

Any marketing campaign starts with the client. You’ll need a Buyer Persona to start with - an Avatar of your ideal client. You need to understand their background their needs, desires, fears, and concerns.

Give them a name, draw a picture of them and get inside their head. Don’t get too hung up about getting this absolutely perfect. If you have clients already pick your top 10 and create it around what you know about them.

It’s not an exact science and you can refine this over time. Don’t lose momentum - that’s the key point.

Once you’ve got this you need to think about the steps that lead them to you - the Buyer’s Journey.

This will include:

• Awareness - they realise they have a problem or a desire or some kind of need
• Consideration - they’re looking at the alternatives?
• Decision - they’ve thought it through, compared the options and they’re ready to buy

This is where your content ideas will come from. These are the questions they are asking. Again, this is an ongoing process but initially, look for the highlights and focus on quick wins.

Once you’ve nailed this you can start to think about the types of content you can create. This falls into our two headline categories:

• Content for Authority and Backlinks
• Content for Conversion

Let’s look at each in more detail.

Content for Authority and Backlinks

Remember the good old days of Article Marketing?

You know - just create some thin content, upload to your favourite article directory, get your spinning software out and spin it out to hundreds of article directories (you didn’t really do that did you? Go on, I won’t say anything).

Let’s be honest - that was a cheap way of building links. What made it so annoying for many was that it was just so easy for people to manipulate the rankings with such low-quality content. People were asking why should someone with a low-quality website be able to outrank a genuine website run by passionate owners who had years of experience.

But Google took notice and pressed the nuclear button in 2012. Since then the winners have been either the ones with the cleanest backlink profile of the ones who create the best content and have the best outreach.

That’s the thing, it isn’t JUST about great content. I mean great content is great, but it’s just not that great if no one else is reading or seeing (or hearing) it.

So your starting point when it comes to Authority Content is to find your influencers. These are the people with an audience. The movers and shakers who already have a following and who are willing to share and promote great content.

And that includes YOUR great content.

Now don’t think you only need to go for the A grade, superstar bloggers (although that would be nice and it will happen if you keep at it). There are plenty of up and coming bloggers who have a loyal and committed following.

They don’t necessarily need to be exactly on message either. That’s to say they don’t have to be writing exactly about what you do or what you sell. The important point is that they have an audience with similar characteristics to your buyer persona.

Of course, what they must have is a blog and a social media following and this should be on the back of the great content that they themselves create.

There are aggregator sites that pull together lists of the best blogs as well as tools that will help you identify the movers and shakers. Initially, you just need to narrow down your list of targets.

OK, so you’ve got your buyer persona, you understand the journey they go on to find you and you have a list of Influencers who are going to help you with the heavy lifting.

Now you need to create that content, but fortunately, there are some proven content formats that you can use. Here they are:

• Definitive/Ultimate Guides - You are an Authority and this type of content proves it. Heavyweight content from 5,000 to 20,000 words in length, these will work now and long into the future for you
• Guest Posting - If you thought guest blogging was dead, then guess again... There are tons of authority websites (i.e. your influencers) that want great content from knowledgeable people (i.e. you)
• List Based Content - Whether it’s top 10, top 20 or top 100, people love lists. Easy to create, easy to digest and fun to share, lists are always going to be a popular content format
• Expert Round Up - Want Authority content? Ask the experts. An approach you can use once you have built some relationships with your influencers
• Awards - You can create your own awards - whether it’s for product of the year with different categories or even best blogs of the year, featuring (of course) your Influencers
• Comparisons - What’s best? iPhone or Android? WordPress or Joomla? People are busy and they appreciate it when someone has done the hard work of comparing two products side by side to give them an expert opinion and this type of content will attract links for you
• Infographics - There are good infographics and there are bad infographics and there are awful infographics. Just remember that the purpose of an Infographic is to make a complex issue easier, rather than more difficult to understand

Conversion Content

Content for Authority and Backlinks may be the sexier content cousin, but Content for Conversion is the everyday workhorse that can make a huge difference to any eCommerce store.

Again, there are proven frameworks for you to choose from:

• ‘How to Guides’ - You’re an expert and a well written ‘How to Guide’ gives you the chance to show this. With a foot in the Authority camp and a foot in the Conversion camp this is a great place to start if you’re not sure. Best of all, most of this stuff is already somewhere on your hard drive or your outbox
• Buyer’s Guide - Put yourself in a strong position in your buyer’s mind by positioning yourself as an independent expert whilst at the same time setting the benchmark against which your competitors have to measure up to
• Video - Video on product pages is estimated to improve conversions by up to 80%. Whilst that might not always be possible for every product, video should play an important part of your conversion strategy - even if you just jump on the unboxing phenomenon
• Case Studies - What better way to prove that you can do what you say you can do than by putting your clients centre stage in a professionally crafted Case Study
• User Generated Content (UGC) - UGC is the authentic voice of your clients. Listen to the way they describe your products - pure solid gold!
• Reviews - No longer a nice to have, reviews are essential because your Prospects are doing their homework on you. You just need to get into the habit of asking for them

Plan your Content Calendar

Now that you’ve got plenty of content ideas you need to create a plan of action. But committing to content is an ongoing process, not a flash in the pan.

Remember that building relationships with influencers take time and effort. There’s no need to wait until the final content is ready. You can start straight away as we shall explain below.

In terms of the content itself, brainstorm some ideas and go for the easy, quick wins first. Lay out a schedule and assign it to whoever can create it.

If you’re on your own then you may need some external help particularly for the graphics or maybe copywriting if that’s not your thing. There are loads of freelancer sites that you can use to keep a lid on costs.

Visual Aspects of Content Marketing

One area that should not be overlooked is the visual aspects of your content, particularly if your focus is on shares and backlinks.

Let’s speak frankly: if you want to get your content featured, shared and linked to it had better look the part. Visuals are vital these days.

But not only that, you have a great opportunity to repurpose content - content that may already be on your website or your blog.

Here are some options for every piece of content you create:

• Slides - Slideshare gets some serious traffic and creating content into slides is a quick and easy option
• PDF - If you have great content on your site then offer a free PDF download too - some people just prefer their content that way
• Video - Can you complement that Definitive Guide or that Buyer’s Guide with a useful informative video?
• Audio - The death of Podcasting has been greatly exaggerated. Some people just prefer the spoken word
• Infographics - Apart from standalone infographics, can you repurpose more of your written content into visual content?

Don’t Forget to Optimise Your Content

You’ve done all of the hard work to create your content but optimising it is a vital step that’s easy to overlook in the eagerness to get it published.

Use this SEO checklist to remind yourself:

• Create an attention grabbing headline
• Identify your target keywords
• Make sure Metatags, Headings, and URLs are optimised
• Any images should be optimised too
• Include your keywords naturally throughout your text
• Link internally to other pages where possible, i.e. product pages other content
• Link to Influencer’s content too
• Make sure social sharing buttons are visible and functioning
• Check for mobile friendliness and speed

Now the Fun Starts - Content Outreach

You can actually start your outreach before you have any content ready. Remember your Influencers? You can follow them on social media, subscribe to their blog, be the first to comment and join in with their community.

We don’t want to be too prescriptive here - this is an ongoing process and isn’t necessarily linear i.e. do A, then B, then C. The point is that you need to get on their radar at some point and the sooner you throw your hat into the ring the better.

Also, use the Outreach tools to speed up the whole process.

But once your content is ready you can definitely ramp up your outreach. You’re like a rock band taking their latest work on tour. The aim is to get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible.

If you’ve been working with your Influencers to create the content or if you’ve linked to their content then you should be able to get some quick wins. Just politely ask them to share it with their audience.

Most times you’ll be pleasantly surprised because you’ve prepared the ground in advance by developing a relationship with them.

But don’t forget your own clients or subscribers or followers. Over time these numbers will increase if you just follow the steps we have outlined.

Finally, it would be a shame if your content was a one hit wonder. You’ve worked hard to create some great content and hopefully, there will be some evergreen content there. So make sure you set reminders to promote it after a week, a fortnight, each month, every quarter, etc..

There are some great tools out there that will automate all of this for you.

Everything about marketing—content marketing included—requires you to truly know and understand your target audience. After all, how can you promote or pitch an idea to a group of people you know nothing about?

Let’s use content marketing as an example. If you don’t know who you’re creating content for, you may end up wasting time producing material that doesn’t even resonate with your audience.

That problem is exacerbated even more if you’re paying for others to create the content.

As marketers, it’s our job to get to know our audience. We must understand who they are and what they want.

We must also be able to anticipate how they will react to things.

This does take the time to accomplish correctly and requires a lot of research and patience.

We’re going to explore several ways you can speed up that process, by identifying and getting to know your target audience much better.

How to Identify Your Target Audience?

Before we explore some ways to reach out to your target audience and reel them in, we first need to talk about what you can do to identify your customers.

Who is your ideal demographic? Where do they spend most of their time, and where can you reach them?

After all, you can’t target an audience you don’t know.

Some more examples of questions you should ask:

• What age are they?
• What likes and dislikes do they have?
• What strategies will work?

Invest some time getting to know your customers before you do anything else, and you won’t regret it.

How? you say. Use the ideas proposed below.

What Problems Do My Products or Services Solve?

If you have a product or service, what purpose do your goods serve?

Gain a better understanding of how you help your customers. What are you helping them achieve?

Why do they need your product? Why would they choose you over the competition?

The existence of Uber and the service they offer is a great example.

Other than conventional taxis, it’s clear that a similar ride-sharing service has been needed for some time.

What do you do when you need a quick ride somewhere and you’ve been drinking?

What do you do if you want a ride to the airport but don’t want to pay for parking?

In the past, you would rely on public transportation or taxis for this sort of thing.

Now, you can simply pull up the Uber app and order a ride. It’s quick and convenient.

In essence, product thinking is problem-solving.

This will tell you just about everything you need to know about your customer’s needs, wants and demands.

By understanding what they want out of a product you offer, what they get out of it and why they continue to use it, you can identify who they are.

Conduct User Surveys and Research

Focus groups are great for testing out new products, but some types of information can only be gleaned from talking directly to your customers.

Use customer surveys, research and analytical data to explore your audience in a more meaningful way.

It’s your loyal customers—the ones who use your products every day—that matter most. Anyone can look at a product and suggest potential improvements, but the people who are actually using that product will be able to tell you if the changes will be for better or worse.

In 2014, at least 26% of Americans would check reviews before making a purchase. About 60% of the American population would leave a review.

In the last few years, these numbers have surely increased as brands like Amazon seek feedback on each purchase and encourage you to leave a review.

With a group of people out there eager to give you their opinion, you want to make sure you’re asking, listening to, and addressing user feedback as it arises.

Don’t forget—this includes asking for customer feedback through reviews, comments, and suggestions. Any kind of customer engagement and response is better than nothing.

Look to Your Competition

The final piece of the puzzle is to look at the grass on the other side of the fence. It sounds funny doing exactly what the adage says not to, but in this case, it can help.

Look to your competition for ideas on improvement, or even examples of what not to do.

What do your customers gain or lose by choosing your products over a competitor’s?

What is your rival doing that you’re not? What kind of success and failures have they had?

Are they focused on the same demographic as you?

T-Mobile is an excellent example of this strategy. The company looked to the competition and came up with ways to better their services.

This meant shedding pretty much everything that made them a traditional cellular company.

With their rebrand, they catered to a smaller, niche audience.

They dropped two-year contracts and allowed for contract-free service.

They also regularly introduce features that customers comment on with other providers.

For instance, Verizon, AT&T, and several other providers did away with unlimited data some time ago. In contrast, T-Mobile reintroduced it.

How to Market to That Target Audience

Here are the basic steps you can take to get to know your audience better and master speaking to them directly.

• Find Out Where They Spend Most of Their Time — It doesn’t matter if your business is online or offline. You must find out where your customers spend most of their time and tailor your marketing to the most common locations. This includes physical locations and online mediums like social networks or websites.
• Learn from Search and Purchase History — Use search and purchase history data to make suggestions to customers about additional products and services they might like. This includes newer models of products they own or accessories to go along with a new purchase.Facebook’s advertising strategy is a great example of this. The social giant taps into a user’s internet browsing history to deliver them more impactful ads and promotions.
• Reach Out to Them Through Direct Mail Marketing — It may seem old-school, especially thanks to email, but people love to hear from you even through the mail. One of the best ways to reach out is to offer exclusive promotions, deals or discounts to your loyal customers.
• Anticipate Every Customer’s Needs — Take time to understand the needs of your customers and then anticipate them. For instance, if you know they’ll need supply refills for a particular product after a few months, send an automated email offering those supplies at a discount.
• Pay Attention to Customer Interactions — Keep an eye on engagement and interactions your brand has with customers through social media and in the real world. Use this to your advantage. Did a customer dislike something about a product that you fixed in a newer model? Reach out and let them know. Did a customer complain about a poor process your brand uses? Come up with something better or more efficient and then share. 

• This can also be boosted through user-generated content. Starbucks held a promotion in 2014 that encouraged their customers to send in doodles they drew on cups. The winner would get their drawing featured on a limited-edition cup. The result was over 4,000 entries over the course of three weeks.
• Connect With Their Social Circles — Get a deeper understanding of your audience by finding out their likes and dislikes and where they spend most of their time through social. You can inject your brand into conversations this way and gain additional advertising through word-of-mouth.
• Blog About Their Interests or Offer Advice — Help the customers solve a problem they have by offering advice, tips, and how-to guides on your blog. Pepper in the occasional promo for a product or service you have.60% of marketers create at least one piece of content a day, while 78% of consumers believe organizations providing custom content are interested in building good relationships. The takeaway? Content is still king and your customers will appreciate the support.
• Provide Customer Reviews and Testimonials — Building trust with new customers is one of the most important steps in converting them. You can do this by showing off positive reviews and testimonials from other satisfied customers. This also targets your audience directly by allowing them to see people similar to them have benefited from your goods.

Take Your Time

The most important thing to remember is that you need to be patient and take your time. This will ensure that you do, in fact, identify the proper audience and that you take the necessary actions afterward.

If you jump the gun, you risk the possibility of targeting the wrong demographic for your brand, which can waste a lot of time, money and sweat.

So long as you follow the tips provided, you should be just fine.
